In 1974, the then President Late Dr D.Dhairyam (19) became the first Life Member of the Association. He appealed to the other Members that as many members as possible should seek life Membership so that a corpus fund of the IACP can be created. Eight others, Ahuja Indra (4), Dhillon Manjith (17), Dube,S (20), Kumar Aditya (36),Kumar Myra (37), Padki Vijay (60), Sharma S.C (77) and Tiwari C.A (93) became “Life members” by paying the prescribed fee of Rs 250/=, in place of the annual subscription of Rs 15/=, and their names are shown as such in the IACP Membership list of 1974. Dr Dhairyam expired suddenly on 24th February,1976 at the age of 53 and his life membership lasted just about 2 years.
The very next year an appeal was made that Members who are qualified as per the prescribed qualifications and experience to become Fellows should apply for the same and start paying the annual subscription of Rs 25/= in place of Rs 15/= prescribed for the Members. Prabhu, G.G (62) applied and was elected as the first Fellow of the IACP at the Varanasi, EC meeting of the IACP on 23rd December,1975. This is recorded in the IACP Membership list of 1977.
(*Members who left India and whose later addresses could not be traced)
Please Note: Well documented history of the profession of Clinical Psychology in India as also of the Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists (IACP) has been scanty. The present exercise is a small effort to fill in this hiatus. The above list of Founder Members has been compiled from available records by Prof. G.G. Prabhu who had been the Founder Secretary of the IACP. The name of the Members, their academic titles, place of work and the names of the concerned cities is given as they existed in 1971. Errors, if any, detected by any member may kindly be brought to the notice of IACP on Email:  secretary@iacp.in so as to make necessary corrections.
